It is with deep sadness that we share the news of our father and husband, Vivian Richard Forbes, who has passed away. Viv lived a remarkable life — born in Warwick in 1939, he became a geologist, economist, farmer, writer, and above all, a man of principle. He was devoted to his family, passionate about learning, and unwavering in his commitment to libertarian ideals. He also dedicated much of his later life to climate science, challenging conventional wisdom with rigorous study and advocating for honest debate grounded in evidence. Viv was a Dux, Geologist, Economist, Intellectual, Libertarian, Writer, Poet, Political Commentator, Coal Miner, Sheep Farmer, Grandfather, Carbon Sense Coalition Founder and tireless campaigner for freedom. He will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the values he instilled in us and the legacy he leaves behind.
Viv was the inspiration for the creation of this Web site.
There will be a Memorial Service to honour Viv's life on FRIDAY 5 DECEMBER 2025, 9AM (AEST - Australian Eastern Standard Time)
at Centenary Memorial Gardens, 353 Wacol Station Road, Sumner, 4074.
There will be a live stream of this event at that time. For access, use the PIN 5918.

I am so sorry to hear this. He was tireless. A warrior. The world is richer for having him, poorer for loosing him. My sympathies to his family.
Thanks Viv. You were a champion for the truth. You made a difference.
My name is Steve Hunter. Viv Forbes paid me to create illustrations and cartoons for his website over the last ten years. I am so sad to hear of his passing. He was a great man. He wrote many articles and essays that exposed the global warming / climate change / net zero scam / fraud. It’s a battle still being fought today.
I finally managed to meet Viv and his lovely wife a few years ago on his farm in Rosewood and we went out to lunch. It was a great day.
I would have loved to attend his memorial service but I only found out about it two days after it happened. Such a shame.
Anyway Viv has left a great legacy in his many articles and essays that he wrote for the Saltbush Club and the Carbon Sense Coalition.
My sincere condolences to his wife and relatives.
